GE Money HELP!!

GE Money Help
I posted about this last year but dont seem to have had a resloution. Long story short: I bought a kitchen 5 years ago, paid it off in full 3 years ago (dealt with First National). Late last year I received a letter from GE Money demanding £300, with no explination. Rang them and they don't me that it was money still owed for the kitchen, which I believed was fully paid off. I asked them to send me a full break down so I could compare against bank statements, nothing happened. I eventually wrote to them, again asking for a breakdown - they sent back a letter demanding that I pay £60 a month from that month. I wrote back saying that I couldn't afford this amount, again requesting a breakdown. Heard nothing for 5 months until today when I recieved a letter demanding £600!
I'm more than happy to pay any money that is owing, I just want written proof of the amount first before I cough up! What can I do to rectify this situation?
Thanks

What I would do personally is firstly try and speak to someone in authority on the phone, explain the situation and say you requested a breakdown last year, but didn't get one. Then follow it up in writing, making sure you get a name of the person you spoke to. I would also threaten contacting their complaints department and/or Ombudsman.

Also how has it now gone up from £300 to £600?
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:

I contacted them a dozen times over the phone at first, including speaking to supervisors and got nowhere. Was like talking to a brick wall. They all promised to send breakdowns yet nothing arrived.

No idea how its doubled in size, though they are adding £25 per letter.

    Hi

if the kitchen was on credit????

Yyou can send a consumer Credit Agreement request. That requires them to provide proof of the debt and a statement of account.

If it is not forthcomeing, you can complain and they cannot pursue you for the debt through the courts.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

If you have to right to them, charge them the same amount, keep a spredsheet of everything you do.
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

I'm surprised you're still dealing with GE, they normally had over the debts to "Viking"
