I got a MR fastbake for christmas and made a few loaves during the day and these were fine then I tried to make some bread using the delay timer so I prepared it before bed for it to be ready in the morning _it turned out horrible. I put the bread amker away for a few months - my kitchen's tidy ( thats a joke i meant tiny!!!) and it was getting in the way. I made another loaf during the day - it was great .
I think the problem is the temperature of the water- it must be too cold when it goes on early in the morning on the timer delay - What do you do? I am worried about putiing in hotter water - how hot should it be?

not sure why you're not getting the same results when using the timer? The yeast isnt coming into contact with the water is it?
It doesn't matter what the temperature of the water is if you're using the timer as the water will always cool down.0 -
I use 1 measuring cup of boiling and half of cold and mine is fine in winter,in summer I do 1 of cold and half of hot but thats just during the day.
Have you tried putting it in a different room just overnight as it may just be the room temperature?0 -
I have the same breadmaker as you and I've not had any problems with the delay timer on it! Like Jenny said, the temperature of the water shouldn't matter as it'll be sitting there for a while anyway.Mammy to 2 boys aged 5 and 20

Thanks ladies
I have put in tepid water when on the time delay - its probably too cold
I am sure the water is not near the yeast - water at the bottom yeast on top!
I will try hotter water - my kitchen does get quite cold though so i'll bear that in mind too
thank you again

It might not be the water temperature... the yeast isn't getting in contact with the salt, is it? If so, that would kill the yeast. If that might be the problem you could try making little 'wells' in the flour with your finger and putting the yeast, salt, sugar etc into it's own well to keep them separate until the machine starts doing it's thing.↑ Things I wouldn't say to your face
