When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Today I will/have:

Hello to everyone on this board, have been a lurker for some time now, and thought I would join in.
Today has been a very productive day for me.
I have so far:
- Chased some money owed to me for some work I did last week
- Made overpayment on CC1 (which is a Balance Transfer card anyway)
- Checked Internet Banking
- Added some Listings to Gumtree – I'm sticking to the eBay Boycott thing
- Brought my lunch into the office
- Set up dinner for this evening as were going out
That’s not bad being as I'm in the office
This weekend is going to be a massive sort out for me:
I Need to:
- Send invoices for work I have done this week
- Send off D/D for Mortgage as have changed bank accounts
- Add some more listings to Gumtree and Friday Add’s
- Find more stuff to put on Gumtree
- Have a rest – its been a busy week
Well will let you know how I get on
What do others do on here to keep the momentum going, I do all this now as a natural daily thing, and I feel I could be doing so much more…
I already shop through Quidco, but don’t do the click things as I tend to forget and or don’t have the time to get round to doing them enough…0 -
I have or will
- post some letters 2nd class, including an un-needed car ins cert, they will give me £27 back if I send the cert back
- post some ebay parcels
- give my dad phone no for where I got bargain car insurance and he can hopefully save money too
- use food I have in
- try not to rev my engine so use less petrol
- go to boots to use some vouchers I have, should get 500 advantage card points0 -
Just had a letter from Boots to say that they had a "glitch" on their machine when I last updated my card and they have sent me a 200 point voucher as an apology.0

- balance transferred outstanding balance on my old credit card to my 0% one
