Rose Iwas exactly same after a bite became infected, really ill, flu like symptoms we were in Canada (Comp win) & couldn't get on plane home till had seen airport doctor! He gave me strong antibiotics, drained fluid off & gave me some cream to put on every few hours - said way I felt was bodies reaction to infection
Same thing happened a couple of times after that but read somewhere that garlic was supposed to help stop insect bites, I started to take garlic tablets every day, don't know whether a coincidence but since taking them haven't had as many bites & none of them has blistered like they ALWAYS used to might be worth trying, can't do any harm, Garlic good for you anyway
