I thinki've been out in the sun too much. my poor scottish brain is fried. My husband just has to breath to annoy me at the moment and my back severly annoyed me. They refused to open a basic bank account for us to use as a budgeting account for bills. We disn't want any bells of whistles. weren't even fussed if it offered a debit card just wanted some place to deposit xxx amount and have utilities, mortgage, insurance, council tax etc leave from.

It's RBS. I applied online got sent the lovely anti money laundering letter asking for proof of ID and address. sent them back then on saturday got the usual standard rejection letter saying we do not meet their qualification standards :mad:

I just don't understand it. we have a joint current account with them with full facilities. credit history is average to good. a bit too much debt for my liking but all up to date. Minimums always get paid at least.

All we wanted was a seperate basic account for we could do an internal transfer of the basics for bills :mad:

I guess it doesn't really matter in a huge way just annoying. we both get paid at the end of the month and bills come out the 1st so there isn't even time to do a transfer to a different bank

you could try the on-line site

I'm with RBS and i've got a standard debit account plus an internet only account.


But you can put in for an Internet only account using the RBSDigital site. You can then transfer monies from your main account into this.

This is a VERY basic account all you get is a sort code plus account Number. No card no nothing! interest is not great but good for a bills account.

I presume rs digital and online banking are one in the same. It was just the basickey accountwe tried for. not 100% sure i want to try again for an internet only account as i presume that will be another credit check. I guess i'll just need to keep paying the bills from our regular account.

It's not a huge deal just annoying. my husbandtends to check the bank see we have x amount in it then decide that means he can buy something totally pointless not realising that some of that money was for a bill due out in a few days time. JUst woud of been easier to ringfence it all away elsewhere.

I'm on a clear debt asap mission at the moment
