Eeeeek - help needed!

Options
Hi guys

I have two bank charges due out in May with Bank of Scotland - not got the £70 to pay for them and sent an email to their online help desk pleading poverty. They have asked mt to call the customer services to investigate the charges being stopped - what is the likliness from your past experiences?? And also if they don't stop them and I don't have the money in the account to pay for them - what happens then?

Be polite, explain the circumstances and that you are trying to get yourself out of a pickle, and work on the assumption that if you don't ask you don't get!

If you have not had any charges before (or for a long time) they are quite likely to refund.

P.S Don't have an overdraft with them so didnt go into unauthorised overdraft with them o just simple old chargesfor them saying "No" when money requested. Also I have had two bank charges refunded before so thinking they are going to say nope this time.

yes, I second that. As long as you don't get charged regularly they will often refund them, but you have to ask. I find it helps to be nice to them. good luck.

sorry post crossed with yours. I've had two lots refunded, but about a year apart. doesn't hurt to ask, they can only say no.

I am going to be super nice to them - they have been great before so thinking the niceness is due to wear off! Thanks - dead nervous but going to call them in 10 mins after work :-(

Ah mine were refunded in the last two months so looks unlikely - if I don't have the funds in my account for the charges do I get double charged??

Potentially you'll get an unauthorised overdraft fee but you may be able to get this waived if you can pay it off quickly.

Can't you ask for just a small overdraft on your account - DONT use it though, just keep it for a 'buffer', so if it happens again you wont get any unauthorised charges, but might need to pay a small amount of interest instead!
