Can somebody please help me. I get very graphic !!!!!! pop-up's (one is porntube). As I have a 9 and an 11-year old using this computer I'm desperate to get rid of it. I have looked at the links and installed malwarebites and smitfraudfix (which deleted my screensaver picture, odd so I uninstalled it again). I'm not very computer-wise. It all started when I clikced by mistake on Ok for a download (can't remember which one but it said it was from windows explorer) to make my PC go faster.
Hope this all makes sense!
Thanks in advance.

No need to bannish internet explorer, just stop accessing dodgy sites and P2P downloading. Do not click to download anything, unless you know what it is. The best thing to do is use a Hosts File! This will stop any unwanted pop-ups/ads from ever appearing again on your computer. The nuisance ones.
You can use a HOSTS file to block ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and even most hijackers. This is accomplished by blocking the connection(s) that supplies these little gems.http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.zip
Download that, and unzip it and when you run the (mvps.bat) batch file XP users may see a prompt simply click Run and continue. Once updated you should see another prompt that the task was completed. Some users may see a pop-up from certain Security programs about changes to the HOSTS file. Allow the change ... however if you see this pop-up at any other time ... investigate.
This is what I and may others use and have had no problems with any unwanted pop-ups and ads. Also run a spyware scan on your PC to clear any relevant spyware located on your PC.Smoke-Free since 15/11/08
