I have been attempting to get a refund on the PPI that I held with a Debenhams store card (GE Money)
I opened the account in November 2003
I have written to GE Money to ask for my money back because i feel that the policy was not sold in my best interests and that the sales person had no financial background, full information was not given, it was suggested that taking out the policy would assist my application blah blah
they have responded with a very determined NO!
The FOS have looked into matters on my behalf - and were not successful due to GE Money not being a member of the GISC 'General Insurance Standards' (this didn't happen until 2005)
Next step - FLA
They have since written to me to say that "they can only continue with my complaint if they have documentation to support my understanding that the policy was compulsory".
this is where the confusion comes in 'How, Where or What can i provide to support that'?
I'm working on the basis that i was 'told' that the policy would assist my application, the application was filled in by a memeber of their sales staff and i was then told to 'sign here!'
On my original letters to GE Money i said nothing about the policy being compulsary - therefore I may have slipped up on my letter to the FLA.
Is there any 1 out there with ideas / advise on how to continue??
Has anyone come accross this situation before??
Has anyone successfully been refunded PPI from store cards / credit cards
Please, please don't be shy - any help gratefull received :A
