Urgent Direct Debit Help Needed!

Can someone please help me. I have just been informed by my husband that a direct debit has been set up in our bank account for a charity. The total is 94p. Neither of us have set this up. Could this be some sort of scam?

Many thanks for your advice.

first thing is not to panic. Its highly unlikely to be a scam as the you do need some financial standing to be able to set up a direct debit as a company.

Tell the bank its not your direct debit and ask them to check the mandate.
It could be a mispost (someone else quoting incorrect a/c or sort code) or some other innocent error.

I've got an account with Yorkshire Building Society, and there is an option that where you are paid interest they will give the odd pennies to charity - so for example, if you were due £5.94 interest, they would credit you with £5 and pass the 94p on to charity. I was confused by it the first time I saw it on my statement - I wonder if you might be part of a scheme like that but forgotten about it?
