Fixed rate mortgage - ? end date/start date?

Can anyone help. I have arranged a new fixed rate as my current one finishes on 31st May 2008 with the Woolwich (part of dastardly Barclays)! They confirmed the details to me incorrectly once as 1st May 2008 for the new start date and then the 2nd amendment says 31st May 2008 for the new fixed rate which is, of course, higher than my current one! To my mind this is wrong and should be 1st June 2008 but they insist it is 31st May 2008. Now, if all the Barclays customers are being told this surely they are making an extra day of interest out of millions of people. HELP anyone, are they right???
