in Credit cards
Hiya folks,
Got myself an Asda CC a couple of weeks ago to save the 2p a litre on petrol...
First their online payment system was unavailable for days so I couldn't pay my bill off....
E-mailed them and they said "yes we know there is a problem but don't know when it'll be fixed..."
Now to make it worse my card has stopped working and so has my girlfriends....
Just called them up and she asked if it was an Asda petrol pump that the card wouldn't work with... I say yes and she tells me "its a known issue affecting all asda credit card customers and they have no idea when it will be fixed....."
Thats great, offer 2p off per litre to get everyone to sign up and then the card magically stops working everywhere except the place where you can benefit from it.....!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:
What a con!!

Hi - my wife had the same problem this morning. After waiting for what seemed like hours, and getting cut-off by the "help" line, I finally got through to the right place. It's been happening for about three months, apparently, but they thought it best not to write and tell everyone, because it does not affect all cards and pumps, and if they wrote to everyone telling them about it, then they might get lots of calls from people telliing them that it was working OK for them...hmmmm...!!!!
Anyway, there is a fix!
Use another credit card, and make sure you get a receipt. Then, send a fax to Asda's Customer Services Department on 0113 204 6292, quoting your Asda CC account number. They will then credit the 2p per litre to your Asda card.
That's what they've told me, so that's what we'll do...I'll let you know if it works! Not quite sure what to do when you can't get a receipt due to a "printer fault", which seems pretty common on the Fast Lane pumps, but there you go!0 -
My Asda card worked fine in the Asda petrol station....0

Sorry - meant to say - fax THE RECEIPTS to Asda, with a covering letter with your account number etc. etc...:o0

Cheers Boonie, I wondered if they might be able to do something like that...

I have previously used my Asda credit card to buy petrol on 3 occaisions. Once was pay at booth & twice pay at the pump with no problems.
Yesterday 30/4/08 at 22.45hrs I tried to use the card at the auto pump at an Asda petrol station & twice the sale was cancelled. I ended up using my Tesco credit card so no discount this time.
I have sent an online message about the problem to customer services who incidentally still havn't replied to my previous message dated 24/4/08 regarding no loyalty points being added to my account.0 -
Would anyone recommend this card?
I got an application form for this card and it states earn points - save money. I can not see where it explains how you get the points or how much they are worth, can anyone enlighten me?0 -

I have one and only use it to buy petrol. If, like me, you fill up at an Asda petrol station regularly then it's not a bad card to have.
But, if you'd have to go out of your way to get to an Asda petrol station then it probably isn't worth it.
Unfortunately they changed the rules about earning points just a couple of months after I got the card, so points are no longer given on Asda petrol purchases.
As I only use it for petrol I no longer get any points. You get points for every purchase you make on the card. I do remember seeing a change to the T&Cs recently (included with my statement)... I think this stated that you're given 1 point for every £2 spent. However, there was now a minimum spend of £4 per transaction before that purchase became eligible for points.
The points themselves are converted into Asda vouchers to use instore around November each year. I vaguely remember the value of points working out at around 0.5%... but don't take my word for it as I could be wrong on that.
If my memory is correct it's 1 point for every £2. £200 spend / 100 points and they send a £1 voucher. So, that works out to the equivalent of 0.5%.
Personally, I use a cash back card for every other purchase I make. The only information on the website about points is they're only given for the 1st £12,000 you spend on the card each year, that terms apply and that those terms will be sent along with the card after you apply.
If you're still interested I'd maybe suggest giving them a call as you'll no doubt get a definate answer to your question quicker, unless someone else has a copy of the terms to hand.0 -

Thanks for responding. Hubby fills up his car at an Asda petrol station regularly. I must look into getting a cashback card because we don't have one.0 -
As above, I only ever use my Asda CC to get petrol on. Its never a massive saving, but obviously they add up over the year... just a shame its 2p and not 2%.
Going back to the original point of the post... since the little blip for 2/3 days when the card wasn't working at Asda petrol stations, touch wood, it has been ok ever since.0
