Hi People,
I'm looking for some advise and to be pointed in the right direction. I have been suffering for the last two year with depression, anxiety and for a time paranoia. During this time (which mostly i can't remember) I bought things for the sake of buying, I was even buying clothes in random sizes and then just leaving them in the bags at home. I also took out bank accounts and loans.
I am now in debt to the sum of 11K and i'm now being treated for my illness and i'm taking my medication and seeing a councilor. I however want to contest my responsibility for the debt as I was not of sound mind. My GP has written me a letter advising my creditors that I was not of sound mind during this time.
One of my creditors has written back to me basically saying "tough"....... PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP. I'm trying so hard to turn my life around, just need to be pointed in the right direction.

You need to go to the citizens advice and speak to them. They should be able to put you in touch with a soliciter too.
Good luck

Try MIND and other charities too.
Do you have a social worker / CPN?0 -
Hi. Can you ebay what you don't want? You could use that to start clearing your debts. There is also a depression support forum on this site, they are a friendly bunch so you may want to hop over there occasionally for advice about your illness.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

I dont see my CPN anymore, Been seeing him for 4 month and weve just stopped to see how i cope, but he's only a phone call away0

Phone your CPN for his thoughts on this, and then contact the CAB soon. If they cannot help, post your SOA and we will do all we can to help you reduce your outgoings in order to repay these debts. Get E-Baying this weekend, every little helps, and Carboot sale if you are up to it.
Remember, you are not alone, don't let this debt get you down, there is always someone around for a wee chat.

Guys,
Thanks for the advise - I've just contacted http://www.clsdirect.org.uk It's a free service, provided by Legal Aide.
I've told them my life story (just about), they believe, they can get the whole debt written off. I wrote to Barclaycard last week with a letter i downloaded of http://www.clsdirect.org.uk they've wrote back this morning advising there wiping the debt.
So, thinks not looking quite as bad as they were last night, anyone in need of debt help should check out http://www.clsdirect.org.uk/. It put my mind at rest, no end.
