Risk of Redundancy Notice

Options
I joined an organization almost 9 months ago. This company sends its employees on contract to different clients. And when one contract completes, they search for another and send them there. My company was not able to find me a new contract from past 2 months and I was getting paid even without working as I am permanent to them. Today(29/04/08) I was sent an Notice of 'at Risk of Redundancy'. According to the company, they will give me a months notice of redundancy which starts tomorrow and I will be paid for this one month.

I have found another job which I need to start on 15th (15/05/08) of next month. Can I join this job even before the notice period expires ? Is it legal ?

Thanks.

    Yes it's legal.

As you haven't worked for your current employer for 2 years or more you are not entitled to any redundancy package.

Just ask your current employers to release you early due to the redundancy; and im sure they will.
