What's Classics?

Someone told me their daughter is studying Classics, didn't want to show my ignorance by asking what that means, can someone tell me please?

Thats the school site of a school opposite my old school, all girls and they do classics. The above page basically explains a bit abut it but I think its just studying a bit of Ancient Greece.

It's all about studying Ancient Greece and Rome, the languages, mythologies, cultures, art, all that jazz.

Ancient languages - namely Latin and ancient Greek - and all the mythology and culture that went with them I guess.

I studied Latin at school, taught me more about the English language, spelling and grammar than studying English ever did.
  • dunno, it's all greek to me!

I studied classics! :o ,,,, it was mainly the study of ancient greece & rome, it covered mythical stories like Jason and the golden fleece, Zeus and pandoras box.... interesting but slightly pointless unless you plan to study "classics" at a higher level.

This was the traditional training for the officials who ran the British empire.
