Problems with talktalk - legal action

Hi, i dont know if this is the right forum?

I ended my contract with talktalk after the 18months due to them charging me £1 a month for paper billing i never wanted. I called after i recieved each paper bill explaining that i had opted for online billing, but every month was the same. Just before my contract was up i foned them and told them i would be cancelling my account for this reason. I was promised that £18.00 would be creditred to my account to make up for their mistake.

I then recieived a final bill for £16.71 which should have been cleared by the credit. I tried to call them to discuss, but when i pressed for the option to spk to an operator, it said it didnt recognise my number as a talktalk number and cut me off. This happened several times.

I then recieive a threatening letter frm Buchanan Clark and Wells debt collectors demanding the sum of £36.71! I fone them to explain the situ, they say they will conatact talktalk.

They have just called me back to say that Talktalk have instructed them to persue legal action and its up to me to prove i dont owe the money. The woman said i must have an income so i must pay up. I told her that was irrelelvant as i dont owe the money and how am i supposed to sort it when talktalk wont communicate.

Argh! What to do now? any ideas before this gets even more out of hand?

oh my god the gits!!!!

do you have your original contract stating you opted for online billing? if so I'd use that and then show the examples of the bills charging you for it. Do you have dates to reference to prove conversations you had about it?

Hiya i've got the email saying online billing activation.
I dont have dates to ref for the calls tho.
I suppose i'll have to write to them as they wont answer my calls!
I went bankrupt in Dec, so have been enjoying the lack of threatening fone calls, its horrible to be scared to answer the fone again! And its not my fault this time!

I was treated the same way by them - talktalk are one big con.
In the end, I threatened them with legal action and proved in writing that I was in the right.
Stick to your guns is all I can say hun and do everything in writing.
