thanks nessa , wish I had leftover mash- I love it so much there's never any left ! Jacket potato good idea for work, have been good today and made sandwiches but they do get boring.

I love mash too, so have decided to cook up double normal quantity so there will be some left to freeze (hopefully ;) )

Hi mabel, I am in exactly the same situation as you, same age, approx same level of debt, and have also been in debt for around the same length of time. I only joined last night after lurking for a while, also wish I had found this site years ago, but better late than never! I wish you well and will keep my fingers crossed for you, I know exactly how you feel, don't have a huge amount of debt compared to other people, but would like to be in credit for once. Good luck.

    hi rosyc,
Nice to 'meet' someone in the same situation- have you got a debt free date in mind? It is so good on this site- only been a member for a while myself but have got so much support and help from everyone, please feel free to post on this diary to keep us up to date on your journey or of course bite the bullet and start a diary of your own.
Was naughty tonight and had chips but in my defence only had ten minutes between work and scrapbooking crop. Not great defence I know! Will have to get batch cooking sooner the better.

Thanks, don't have a debt free date, hopefully will be in credit by christmas but as income is up and down I can't predict it, hope you enjoyed your chips, we deserve a treat sometimes, will watch your thread to see how you get on, could do with reading lots of sucess stories to spur me on!

I'm trying to get debt free by the end of this year too. Good luck to you! I tell you what has saved me the most money??? Meal planning for the month, then writing a list before I go shopping. Has saved me a fortune! I used to spend loads on food, now I barely spend anything (although dh and I get some meals at work so that keeps our total spends down too- I have halved what we spend on food by doing that!)
Good luck and let us know how you get on

rosyc- must be difficult not knowing how much money u will have each month, I'm sure we can do it though, if you haven't already sign up to quidco, i have got £210 tracked on there in 3 months, great income booster .

Jak, you have done so well already looks like u are well on track to be debt free before end of year. You will be the first and the rest of us will all want hints and tips! Good idea with the planner, meals are such a pain as I am veggie but other half isn't so pretty much cooking 2 meals. He pays for food so doesn't really affect me, the takeaways are when I am to lazy to cook which seems to be quite a lot at the mo!

    Hi Moneymabel

Congratulations of dealing with your debt so well. Its great to have such a supportive relative to be able to get your debt down!! I'd say you'll well have your debt cleared before 2009...especially with the help of ebay. Seems there is a lot of people aiming to have their debt cleared by 2009...maybe one of you should create a challenge to support each other..if there is not one there already that is:o
