16GB Apple iPod touch £199.99 delivered

What's the deal?

Web powerhouse Ebuyer's selling Apple's 16GB iPod touch for £199.99 inc. (free) delivery. It retails for £269 at Apple, and £234 on Amazon, so this is a good saving if you want one; especially as Apply goods are rarely discounted.

How can I get it?

Just click the link below and add it to your basket. As ever, you'll need to set up an ebuyer account if you don't already have one.

Still seems expensive, what's special about it?
If you're just looking for an mp3/mp4 player, you could certainly do better elsewhere for cheaper, especially in terms of storage. The selling points of the Touch are its super-intuitive user interface (which is exactly the same as the much-lauded iPhone's), and its wi-fi, full-website surfing ability.
Combined, these features make it very useful for looking stuff up on t'internet when you're out and about, and the recent additions of Email & Google Maps (amongst others) extend this functionality further. Oh, and it doesn't look half-bad either.

    I've just ordered mine. :j

Still a good deal but having just spoken to the sales team at eBuyer they can't guarantee if this model includes the software update that was issued in January. It's the luck of the draw from the stock they have apparently. They have some with the update and some without.

I'll let everyone know when mine arrives. If it doesn't the update can be bought from iTunes for £12.99.

    Anyone else ordered one yet?

It arrived on Friday (very quick for eBuyer's FREE delivery service) but it didn't have the software upgrade. Bought it via iTunes for £12.99 and installed it no bother.

It's a beautiful thing and still pleased with the purchase price.

There are rumours on HUKD from cpw staff that this will drop in price soon. Possibly £100 off, same as the 8gb.

Still 64GB short of the amount you'd need for this to be a decent bit of kit. Nice price though.

I had one of these delivered from ebuyer on Friday. How do I know if it has the updates on or not? It is a present so i cannot open box?

You won't know until you start it up and look at the programs available on the Home screen. If it has MAIL, STOCKS, MAPS etc then it has the upgrade already. If not then whoever gets it will need to attach it to their computer then log onto the iTunes store to buy the upgrade. It will need to be done through the computer their iTunes library is on otherwise it won't work.

p.s. make sure that they install the FREE standard update to the iPod software (version 1.1.4 I think it is) BEFORE buying the software update.

When you plug the iPod into iTunes there is a box that comes up saying "Check for update". Click on that to check if there is a newer version of the software and install any newer versions it recommends before buying the £12.99 update from iTunes store.

    Hope this helps.

is the only difference between the 2 ipod touch 16gigs the fact that one has the new software and the other hasnt?

i have been looking to buy my husband one for our anniversary next month and the difference between the 2 price wise is about £40

would i be better off buying the older one(cheaper) and paying £12.99 for the updated softeware or buying the newer one??

    thanks

Yeah, I would just get the older one and buy the software upgrade. So far I love mine. Not sure what price it is now on eBuyer but I was pleased with £199. I got free delivery (which is meant to take up to 10 days or something ridiculous) but it arrived in about 2/3 max.
