Reclaiming charges

Options
Hi

Firstly apologies if this is on the wrong board, saw Martin on GMTV this morning and want to know more about reclaiming if you are already in difficulties.

We are trying to start up a DMP with CCCS and have incurred a number of charges over the years, mostly through our bank Halifax who we have an overdraft with and our CC providers.

We have moved our bank account to a regular one with no overdraft and have put our Halifax overdraft in the DMP pot, should we start a claim with them even though we will be trying to negotiate the DMP ??

We dont have a record of why and how much charges we have paid through our banks and CC, two of the CC we dont even have anymore and dont have the account numbers, they are closed I think (we dont owe on them) could we reclaim these charges just by sending the account holders details in.

If we reclaim from those we are setting up a DMP with are we likely to rub them up the wrong way and risk them not agreeing to it ?

Thanks for your help

K x

I reclaimed my vabk charges with Lloyds even though I was setting up a dmp and I owed them money. The reclaim came straight off what i owed them though, not that that matters. It was some time ago now but I recall sending them a letter (which can probably be found by hunting around mse) and I had to pay ( a small amount) for them to send me 6 years worth of statments. I calculated everything I had paid in charges from the statement and got paid out. I dont think they would be allowed to penalise you for claiming, that wouldnt be a good reason to not agree your dmp. good luck

What if we dont hold the acc details for the CC we were charged on a year or so back, can we still claim them ??

    Thanks

Yes you can. Does not matter if you no longer bank with them, just sent a cheque for £10.00 and ask for all charges dating 6 years. Good luck.
