First Direct- any one waiting to hear from them?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, and a first time buyer. My boyfriend and I applied for a mortgage with First Direct at the start of April, I was just wondering how other peoples applications are progressing?

Thanks, we are new customers and received paperwork for the new bank account in the last few days, but we're waiting to hear more about the mortgage. We've been told there is a big backlog with the applications and we should hear more soon.

the deals are good but honestly just hassel them until you get passed through to someone, we have been exceptionally busy since end of march but if you demand someone in a nice friendly manner you normally get there,

I also applied to FD in early April, literally just before they stopped offering mortgages to non-customers.

I got all the banking stuff through last week and am still waiting for news on my re-mortgage. However I delayed a couple of weeks in getting the paperwork to them as I was waiting for a re-print of bank statements. I had a confirmation on the 19th April saying I would get an update within 10 days (I assume working days) therefore I'll not be worried until the end of this week.

Obviously things have changed a little since some MSE'ers started their applications in Jan/Feb but you may find this thread helpful, especially the timelines on the first couple of pages

Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like we are in a similar position to you 350nutter, timescales seem similar, although this will be our first mortgage and not a re-mortgage.

I've had a look at the timescales mrsm, they are interesting to look at......although it seems things were happening a bit quicker then. It was such a good deal it's not surprising they have a big backlog of applications!

Just a quick update, spoke to them this evening and they verbally confirmed mortgage offer subject to valuation, with the valuation being instructed tomorrow. So it's looking like things are moving along
