Hi & welcome! Loads of great advice above - can I just add that although you might be skeptical, it's well worth joining the £10 a day challenge here? It's amazing how much free money there is to be had on the internet, and the huge obvious bonus is that you can do it when you want around kids. As well as bringing in another £300 a month that way, it also makes you think a bit more about your spending - if you work your backside off doing surveys etc to get to the tenner for the day, you're less likely to blow the lot on a curry that night!

I also tried to sell my house to pay off a chunk of our debts, but it was on the market for a year and in desperation to get moved we eventually dropped the price by 37k so didn't make anything at all. Good luck if you decide to do that, but if it's possible to make ends meet another way then keep the house if you can.

update!!!
have followed advice from debt advice line and just opened a basic account, gone with natwests step. all agreed in principle awaiting paperwork!
