I recently acquired the be-ro recipe book after a pointer from someone else, and i'm looking to see if anyone else has any little cookbooks like this they can recommend to me.
Any ideas please!!
Thanks,

Any of the Shirley Goode paperbacks are very useful! Out of print now but I often see them in charity shops for as little as 20p! The good housekeeping cookbook is quite big but I have managed to get a copy for my dd for only 50p and it has most things in it.

I love the Shirley Goode books too and also have some ancient "Stork Margarine" "Mcdougalls flour", "Tate and Lyle" golden syrup recipe books dating back to the 70s which are wonderful. Most of these things tend to be online now, Delias site is good and there are probably hundreds of others.0

Yes, the Be-Ro book is very good. I also find "The Art of Home Cooking" by the Stork Cookery Service helpful but don't know if it is still in print.
I have found a web site https://www.unilever.co.uk/ourbrands/foods/stork.asp but no mention of the book. However, there is a freephone customer care number 0800454050 which might be worth a call.

I find my Mum's "good housekeeping" recipie book invaluable for things like how to roast potatoes and how long to cook carrots for - it's still in print now although mine is the 1971 edition...Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0

i have a cookery year book also, from about 1978 i think, which is brilliant for basics stuff, its the baking type boos i was looking for. I'll keep an eye out for the Shirley Goode books, can't say its one i've ever noticed about. do you have any titles please?
thanks for all your help.0 -
Well I've got three all from 1986-1989 they followed on from the BBC television series and are called "The Goode kitchen" "Goode for one" and "Have a Goode year" which is for celebrating various seasons and festive occasions Christmas, Easter, Halloween etc. I just looked on Amazon and they have got all three in the used sections from 1p (plus £2.75 p&P) to £3.30 so they are still around...good luck.0

Just posted a link in the freebies forum for Odlums (they're big in the flour milling business in Ireland) recipe book - but also noticed that they have an online recipe section at http://www.odlums.ie/pages/recipes.htmThere are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't

I love my "Milk Cook book" produced in the 70-80's it was my mums and she loved it as well, its very well thumbed and is still the first thing I turn to for basic recipes. Delia "How to cook" books are v good as well my friend picked up the full set in a charity shop for £5, she was made upSorting my life out one day at a time0
