I have a debt that defaulted 24/02/02 and recieved a letter yesterday asking for the payment.
Can they still ask for this i thought if it is 6 or more years after the default thay can no longer chase for this??

I assume you are referring to the statute of limitations which makes a debt unenforcable through the courts.
It is not 6 years from date of default. It is 6 years from the date of your last contact with the creditor ie payment or admission of debt. Someone else may be a bit more precise about the wording there.Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!):beer:

the last contact i had was before the date of default so would be nearly 7yrs ago now i had a call middle of last week i told them i was unsure what they were on about and to put details in the post. So do i know need to go to court?:beer: LOVE LIFE PROCEED & PROGRESS0
