Mayfair celebrations - hair opinions needed please!

Background:
Next Thursday (1st) is Mayfair celebrations in our town. This is the towns main annual event and has been celebrated for years here. It has traditional maypole dancing which the town school year 5 & 6 children have to do. A may queen is crowned as the main focus of the days celebration. The fair comes to town and it becomes a big street party. The girls normally wear pretty dresses and flowers in their hair etc

To start the events off there is country dancing performed by volunteers from years 3 or 4. My daughter is in year 4 and will be doing country dancing. She is also part of a street dance class that will be performing in the afternoon.

Dilemma:

She had french plaits last year. This time she had mentioned that she wanted her hair rag curled, so I did a trial run last night. I removed the rags this morning and thought it looked stunning however my daughter hated it! We had to go into town and everyone was commenting on how lovely her hair looked. She said if 10 people say it looks nice then she'd have her hair rag curled for mayfair day. So far we've had 11 people comment on how good it looks (including random strangers)! She's now decided 15 people have to say it looks nice - so I thought I'd call upon the members of MSE to convince my daughter she looks gorgeous with the curls!

AFTER (sporting the outfit she'll wear on the day):

So should she go with the curls or not? (I'll let her read the thread later to see all your comments).

Thanks

P.s She'll change out of her pretty dress and into combat trousers and hoodie for the street dance performance!!

p.p.s The dress was £7 from Woolworths. Shoes £5 from Adams and Shrug £4.50 from Sainsburys!

Here's a picture I found of my son doing the maypole last year. He's on the far left holding a blue ribbon.

i think it looks lovely! if she still wants a compromise, you could scrape it into a loose side ponytail, and put a large flower clip in the other side!
