When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Today I will:

Hello,
Right, fresh start! Yesterday was payday, so I am now starting a month of spending very little of my 'pocket money', and posting on here every day. So today I will:- make a sandwich to take to work for lunch
- come straight home after work, avoiding the pub ~ we are having a chinese tonight, asked mum to get this from Iceland though, so much cheaper
- look at cheaper shower gel/deo, need to use up stockpiled things first though
- think of ways to reduce my outgoings even further to pay my debts off quicker
- Look for any MS jobs which can be done this weekend
Debts at the start of my journey - about £23,000 lightbulb moment 01.03.2007 (1st payment to CCCS)..Debt Free Date 25.06.2013 Deposit savings £17,000/£30,0000 -

Hello! Happy Friday.
Today so far I have & will be doing:- Checked online banking.
- Did quidco kelkoo click
- Did TV survey
- Did piggy click - only seem to get one 5pts thing a day tho!
- Checked all 5 MS companies for jobs
- Posted off cancellation letters for the 2 credit cards I'm getting rid of so not tempted to keep them
- Cut up one of the old credit cards (keeping the other intact til a balance transfer mess is sorted out then will cut up as well)
- Paid off £10 amount outstanding on old card
- Did Tesco online order via mysupermarket for the first time - saved about £4 more (no valid codes this time though, boo) on top of BOGOF offers etc.
- Signed up for mysupermarket ipoints and collected those too
- Added up the spend on groceries in March (£253) and compared it to April (as now done last shop for this month) - £193 - so have reduced spend by £60 already in one month, plus have stockpiled 9 more weeks of cat food (worth £27) & 3 more weeks of drinks (worth £18) due to offers. Am challenging myself to get this down lower again next month. I know this is still high, but I'll get there...
- Bargaining with solictor about cost for lease extention on our flat as the quoted amount is 25% higher than we were planning for. Hoping we can pay the lower amount and take less years... we'll see. Cross your fingers for us. We have to do it, or will have trouble re-mortgaging next year.
- Cooking at home for visiting family this evening instead of going out - using half store cupboard ingredients, so total dinner will cost in the region of £10 instead of £50.
- Finishing laying the patio this afternoon myself with free help from family.
