Bemused by loan decisions

Hi All
Thought I would post this info here as I'm a bit bemused. Yesterday I applied for 2 loans, one with Citibank and the other with Tesco loans (I only want to take one). Now with Citibank, who I bank with, I asked for £1000 over 12 months and was turned down flat. I then tried Tesco loans who, to my surprise, provionally accepted me for a £3000 loans over 2 years!! Both asked exactly the same info and both searched Equifax only .... I find it very strange
