Orange/Arrow Global alleged debt

Hi,
Today i recieved a letter from Orange(now controlled by Arrow Global LLC who in turn appoint Wecot Credit services as management of accounts) demanding payment to the tone of £220.
Firstly, i do not own a contracted mobile phone account, i use a pay-as-you go phone, incidentally on Orange. However my last contracted account was with Orange, but i knew this was eons ago.
It informed me of all the general garbage normally contained in such a letter; i.e non-payment wil result in a defaulted account, this will effect your credit rating, this is a matter of urgency, etc..
I decided to phone Westcot on the supplied number and question the letters legitimacy. The operator informed me that it was for an account owned up until November 2002! When i queried the details of the charge, he informed me he had no details other than my DOB! He then proceeded to ask me how i would be planning on settling the debt, to which i replied 'I WONT BE'....'Oh well Sir you do realise that this will result it litigation being sought?' I replied 'Oh well!...bye'
The audacity really astounds me. I was wondering whether anyone elses has had similar experiences or if anyone could suggest a course of action, what really concerns me is that this phantom charge COULD effect my credit rating!

Hi
When did you last pay this account, or otherwise acknowledge the account? If it waslees then 6 years ago, then the debt is still enforceable in England and wales (5 years in scotland)If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
November 2002 is when i closed the account. I knew that if there was a charge it still would be legally enforceable, but what i find strange is when i closed the account i was not informed of any charge, so why has one surfaced now, after 5 and a half years?0

Hi,
Well I have a situation with Arrow Global. Basically I had a default put on my credit file from an upaid Orange bill, was a small amount but no matter, they sold the debt onto Arrow Global who in turn put a default against me. I did default on the account I am not disputing that, but I did later settle the amount, however does not change default status. Is there anyway I can get this default removed as it is playing havoc with my finances. Not even sure who I chase to get it removed Orange or Arrow Global who issued the default. I have read in some cases that they have to havw all of the paperwork to cover this or you can go to the financial ombudsman, anyone know if this is the case?

Start a new thread and let this one die. The similarities with your case are confusing and purely coincidental.charlotte_a wrote: »Hi,
