in Cutting tax
Hi all,
Hoped to get a bit of help regarding my tax situation.
I was employed for 3 months at an establishment about 6 months back and was put on emergency tax. I have kept all payslips they gave me etc.
I have got the address of my local tax office and was wondering is it as simple as me posting my payslips and asking them to repay the tax I overpaid? Is there a certain time period I have to do this in? Or can I just send it and they will get back to me?
Thanks for any help that can be given,
Dave

You can't use payslips to make your claim. You need your P45 which you got when you left the job. If you have since started another job, then just write to HMRC and give them a full list of where you worked during the year, with dates, and also include any periods of claiming JSA. You have 6 years to do it, but my advice is not to delay!£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

Thanks for the reply Fengirl, so should I send my P45 and my payslips or just the P45? How long does it usually take for the tax office to process something like this?
Thanks again,

just send your P45 with a covering note you what you did before the employment and what you did afterwards.
and keep a copy of course0
