Nationwide loan paid up
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me???
I took a loan out in 2000, I fell behind with my payments but I did pay it up 2 years ago, I did contact Nationwide last year as it was still showing as unpaid on my credit report and they said they would ammend it as I was going through a new mortgage application. The mortgage went through and we moved last June but now when we tried for a top up on the mortgage it has been declined as something has shown up on my credit report and to my surprise the loan is still showing as unpaid!!!!
What do I do?? Has this happened to anyone before?
Obviously I will get onto Nationwide tommorow.
Any advise would be much appreciated.

At this point I would SARN them. Ask for specific information. That is a copy of the original agreement, a copy of the transaction history (or statements) and all correspondence relating to the loan.
by doing this they will have toi provide you with the full statements and this will confirm that the loan is repaid ( or not).
If the statements confirm that the loan is settled, you can then compare what is held on your credit record. You can do this by contacting either Experian or Equifax. It should only cost you £2 to get your full credit file. You will then see what is on you file to get you turned down.
If it is Nationwide you can seek redress from them.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
However, I have since seen the light.0 -

Thankyou for your help.
I have already been on Equifax and it is the loan that shows up, there is a balance of £1060 showing up I am waiting for the department that I need to contact at Nationwide to open at 9am then I will be on the phone.
I have been through all this before with them but I thought it had all been sorted out as the mortgage went through last year.
I am going to ask them to send all the files on the loan to me so that I can prove it's all paid up.
Thanks again0 -
Just been having a good luck through my credit report and it does say that I defaulted on the loan in June 2007, this is when I exchanged contracts and moved into my new house so does this mean they are trying to say I moved and left the debt??0

that is what is sounds like. Was the loan repaid at that time? If so you definitely need to get up to date information of what they are claiming you owe.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

Yes I paid it up definately, what a nightmare!
You'd think that I borrowed from a back street loanshark the way I am being treated by them, I think I will be making another phonecall to them today if I haven't received a letter confirming that it is paid up.0
