Mixed Fortunes

Been bit of a mixed bag in this part of debt-free wannabee land:confused:
Prospect of new hours at work so that is positive but finding out that Capital One had not received my payment on time despite being paid by cash into bank 3 days prior to cutoff date was annoying but not as annoying as £12 pound admin charge:eek: However lesson learnt and, as I found out this evening you can now make monthly payment on Cap 1's online site, I will definitely not let this happen again.
Good news from one of my other creditors....Cabot Financial....they have frozen interest on my balance and will not apply default as long as I continue to stick to arrangement negotiated by the CCCs with them so result there at least:beer:
Haven't spent any money at all today....store cupboard meal and with one more day to get through till weekly shop it looks like cupboard will have a little surplus in it:j

Best wishes to all other wannabees:T

  • Hi EO, you sound just like your name!!!

Lots of people would take the £12 charge as a knock back but you have chalked it up and moved on - now that attitude will help you to get you through this no end :T

  • Hiya Poor:hello:
I just think what's done is done and where I used to stress and fixate upon negatives now I try and channel that energy to change what is in my power to change and hopefully create a debt free future:grin:
As you can see from my signature, that's not gonna happen overnight and I guess that is the payback for living beyond my means and living by Scarlett O'Hara philosophy when faced with anything difficult - 'I'll think about that tomorrow'
Well there are no more tomorrows as far as debt is concerned for me.....there is only today and what small things I can do today to save some money.
My new Tax credits are paid into my bank at midnight tonight....before I used to think what can I spend these on, now I think what can I pay with these:cool:
Now that is a massive change for me, believe me:beer:

  • I'll cheers that

That has been the big difference I have noticed about me too, I now look at money in a fundamentally different way, one that I never actually believed existed but thought people made up to make them feel better about depriving themselves of things (denial, moi??)

Just typing how my attitude has changed has me cringing with how I used to look at things , but I have to say I don't allow myself to regret the debt, I had a lot of fun and did a lot of things I otherwise couldn't, that said now is definitely the time for sorting out and I am convinced that my debt will NEVER go up again and that I WILL be debt free.

You sound totally committed to becoming debt free and I personally find your attitude a great reality check and a bit of a boost for me too. I hope you carry on posting.

  • Just checking out your signature......you definitely seem to be on the right track now:T
Yeah no time for regrets...glad that you got some enjoyment out of your former reckless ways;)
I think this forum is so inspirational and in a crazy way I'm really getting into my new 'tight as a cat's bottom' persona:A :rotfl:
Thanks for your encouragement, it's much appreciated and yes, I'll keep posting and hope you do too :p
