That's nothing to do with the removal of the 10% tax band then. It's something else that has made the difference.0 -

Absoloutly nothing to do with the 10p tax rate then.
Biggest losers lose around £11pm.
Oh and i wish people would get it right, the figure is not £18500, its £15000.
Anyone that earns over £15000 will be better off.
(If you pay both NIC and IT)0 -

I'm not sure I just presumed it was the 10p tax rate, does seem strange and we have just had our wages taken over by new accountants, I will see what happens next month.0 -

Did you use all of your taxable allowances last year? (i.e. were you earning for the whole tax year?) Sounds like that could be the most obvious answer. If so then your tax figure last year would be artifically low.Make a list of important things to do today. At the top, put 'eat chocolate'. Now, you'll get at least one thing done today.

I was earning for the whole year, I work 16 hours a week, but did use to work around 12 hours.0 -

Probably means that you earned under your personal allowance last year and now that you are working more hours you are due to pay some tax.0
