I am off to France with some friends on Wednesday.... some bright spark has suggested a fancy dress party while we are away.
I don't want to go to much expense (obviously  ) and can't be carting a lot of clobber around...
So come on folks, any ideas??

My Dad's standard reply - wear nothing but black gloves and black socks and go as the 5 of Spades
:rotfl:
Dark trousers, a stripey top and buy some onions over there and go as a French onion seller!
If you have a red dress, you can buy devil horns and stuff at Claires Accessories and go as a devil.
Or a white dress and some tinsel on your head for an angel. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Why not go as a bunch of grapes, all you do is take a packet of purple balloons or green balloons, blow them up and then attach them to your clothes with small safety pins, you need quite afew balloons but they wont take up much room in your suit case,my son won first prize when he did this on holiday.0

Depends how tarty you want to look, but seeing hen nights In Newquay. A leopard skin swim suit, plastic club and furry boots, seem to make a nice caveman. Black skirt, white blouse, fake police hat and plastic handcuffs work well.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

Go as a bubble bath:D I saw someone do this at a last minute fancy dress competition and it looked great.
Wear a frilly shower cap and your bathing cossy which you have attached as many blown up balloons as you can get onto it. Go for two contrasting colours of balloon which go with the shower cap. Pink and cream or powder blue and silver look good pearlecent balloons are the best look.
Whatever you go as have fun.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
How about a full-length petticoat with bits of paper/fabric with "Freud" written on them all over it? That would be a Freudian Slip!0

Gee thanks guys! I knew you wouldn't let me down! Keep 'em coming... once I've got my outfit sorted, there's two others to sort! :beer:I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Bed sheets=TOGA PARTEEE (if you're camping, sleeping bag=caterpiller)
T-shirt with rude slogan, get ratted, go as a Brit
Durex on the nose (who're you supposed to be? F*** Nose)
An outside possibiity - give a female friend a piggy-back and say "I'm a snail, this is Michelle" (doesn't quite work if she's Tracy though...)0 -
Always remember this outfit someone wore at a work party a long time ago.
Minimal stuff to take too!
Wear black trousers, black top, wear a blue bra over the top and stick a twig/branch down the middle in between your boobs and wear a sign on your back 'TWO BLUE TITS ON A BRANCH'
Good luck0 -
Take some old CD discs, a riding crop, goggles and a flat cap. Stick the cd's all over your jumper and go as a Disc Jockey !!0

Cow boy / Cow girl - checked shirt + waistcoat (charity shop) + jeans, hat, kids gun holster set (from market or borrow one), bit of rope for a lassoo. Make a sherriff's star from card and tin foil.
The Toga is a good idea, just make sure you have plenty of safety pins to keep it together (I speak from bitter experience!). You can make that olive branch thing for the head with some privet.
Last one I went to was themed so several of us went as the St Trinnian's school hockey team - short pleated skirt + shirt/blouse + jumper (tied round waist) - charity shop, borrowed DS's old school tie, fishnet stockings and suspenders, I have long hair so I plaited it. The blokes went as the Bash Street Kids (from the Beano), basically in school uniform and short trousers. What a hoot!!
