Fixed rate?

Im considering remortgaging to an A&L 5 year fixed mortgage today.

I was just wondering can anyone advise whether the events in the US re New Orleans, increased oil prices etc will have on interest rates over here?

I am facing the same dilemma as Greentea. I have decided to wait until the Bank of England have their interest meeting around 9th /10th September to see what they will do.

I have this real good knack of sods law and either jumping before or after the boat sails. Although, I think the 5 year fixed rates at the moment are very good.

I can still feel the pain of the late eighties when mortgage interest rates were around 16% and that really did hurt. I don't believe we will see those levels again but who knows.
