Has anyone had any experience with LCS?

Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone has had any experience with this debt collection agency? I'll tell the story....

We received several letters from this company about 3 weeks ago, demanding £261 for an electricity bill run up on a property we moved out of a year ago. The address on the envelopes was incomplete, so they had been posted into the empty house next door which has the same number but a different name, and were only handed to us when the owner visited (gotta love old villages with 5 number 61's! :rotfl:)

The bill LCS had been hired to deal with was for the 6 months following us moving out, we didn't even run it up! The people at LCS have confirmed it was for charges incurred after we moved out, and they wanted proof we weren't living there. We called up to close the electricity account before we moved, but clearly that wasn't done by the bloke on the other end of the phone with only a loose grasp of the English language. LCS said if I could prove we weren't living there, they would close the file on it as we are not responsible. I have now sent them a copy of our old tenancy agreement, a copy of our current tenancy agreement, and a dated council tax letter, with covering letter TWICE and they are still sending me 'we will take you to court and break your knees' type letters, and say my letters haven't arrived yet, but not to worry, if they come through the case will be closed.

Any one have any suggestions for how I can handle this? It's really stressing me out, and I don't want to have to go to court when as far as I'm concerned 4 phone calls and two letters have been adequate correspondence to try to close this matter.

I wouldn't worry too much, if they do take you to court they will end up looking pretty stupid!
As above send everything by recorded delivery, keep receipts and keep a diary of contacts by the company and all actions taken by yourself.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
