Should I be worried?

Hi all, been reading a number of posts lately regarding statute barred debts etc and have a question I'm hoping somebody can advise on.
5 yrs and 9 months ago I left a job (working for a big corporation), but due to an error by my boss I was paid for the month after I left. However, I have never ackowledged that I have any debt to this company as (also due to an error by my boss) I did not receive a bonus which he had agreed I was due upon leaving - the 2 amounts should have been about equal I believe.
A few months after I left I received a letter from the company asking for repayment - I called them and explained that if, after calculating the bonus amount, I was still due to pay them anything I would go ahead, however I wanted the bonus issue resolved first. They said they would get back to me but I didn't hear anything from them after that. I've since moved house.
My question is, should I be worried? I've checked my experian report and there is nothing relating to this (CCJ/default etc), presumably this means they have not taken any action? Are they likely to come after me? And am I right in thinking that 6 years from the date of the alleged "overpayment" they would no longer be able to do anything even if they wanted to?
Obviously I could just contact them directly but as I don't believe I owe them any money I don't really want to bring the issue up! However as my credit record is pretty good at the moment I'd be mortified to suddenly be landed with a CCJ for the next 6 years!
Any advice appreciated!

Thanks for the reassurance - my reason for worrying is that it was about 18 months after I left the job that I moved house, so I guess they could have contacted me at my old address since then and I wouldn't have received the letter? Just worried that they'll realise that the debt is about to become statute barred and so start proceedings against me at my old address?0

you say it was a big company you worked for, I reckon they would have done something about it by now. I think they will have let it go it's probably not worth their while to chase it. I work for a big company and when things like this happen we weigh up how much it will cost to chase something and often write stuff off as not financially viable. If your boss made a mistake he/she may well have covered it up anyway. I really wouldnt worry.0

Hey,
You say your worry is that they may realise about the 6 year rule and come after you, well yes they may do that but equally they may not.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that their is nothing you can do to influence their actions so don't worry about it.
My guess is, the issue is dead and buried somewhere..... Large organisations have continual personnel changes, its sad to say but I bet no one will even remember you there now and chances are the staff that were there when you were have changed anyway. As such your file will have been archived a long long time ago. People are very good at burying mistakes in archive and then moving on.
Good luck.
