Welcome to the boards, you are in the right place and will get some fab advice from the great helpful people.

Its hard to help without knowing any details

if you can try to post your s.o.a there is a sticky on the first page which explains how to do it and that means people are able to help and advise you more.

  • Currently i owe 1.900 on a abbey credit card also 1.400 on virgin credit card. 3.100 on egg and 2.800 on a natwest credit card and finally 2.400 on capital one. Im up to date on 2 of the cards but slipped behind by a month on 3, every month i get hit by a late fee on those cards. Happily ive never missed a payment on my mortgage so its not all doom and gloom :-)

As cheaps said,if youpost a full SOA including all incomings and outgoings plus list all debts and apr's associated with them plus limits then someone alot more knowledgable than me will come along and show you what cut backs can be made to make sure you are meeting the minimumpayments at least.

    Hi Deepdale1802

You are doing the right thing by paying your mortgage before your creditors. Your priorities should always be paid first including council tax, utilities etc and your creditors are secondary. These things can directly affect your living and standard of life so they are important.

Stopping the use of your cards is very important. Cut them up and return them to the lenders as this removes the temptation to spend on things you cannot afford and putting you further in debt.

You can if you are in financial difficulties ask the credit card companies if they will give you maybe 3-6 months on no interest or a lower interest rate to try get back on your feet. If you are nice to someone they may be more willing to help you if you explain your in financial difficulties, but do not give into pressure from them to pay more than you can afford at any point even if you can only afford £1.

Once you have put together your SOA you are best seeking independent financial advice on your situation to see what you should do next. People’s signatures contain many such organisations, and you can also try our online advice facility called Debt Remedy where you can complete a financial statement and be provided with advice on the best way to deal with your situation.

Good luck and keep us informed on your progress
