200g of Carrs Water Biscuits is 95p, Sainsbury's High Bake ones 74p, but the same weight of cream crackers is less than 40p. The ingredients seem to be much the same. What is it that makes boring old Water Biscuits so dear?
And why do I keep buying the blasted things when I know crackers are a better deal? :-/

No chocolate on them ;D.
You sometimes get water biscuits in the variety packs of biscuits for cheese that come out at Christmas.
I don't know why they are more expensive - perhaps they are just the 'designer name' label for cream crackers.0 -
Nooo, they're just flat things made mostly of flour, and water I suppose, although they aren't wet
. You have them with cheese. They are really glorified cheese biscuits/crackers, in a fancy wrapper (which is still not worth 50p extra!)
I have decided they are probably a snob thing upper class delicacy (hardly any calories either), hence the price ::)
(Edited to amend lousy spelling/grammar)I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

You get given water biscuits to "clear the palate" when you go wine tasting. Not that I'm a regular wine taster, you understand, but I did have a day of it when I was on holiday in the summer (and I wasn't driving!).
Alternatively, water biscuits don't get in the way of the taste of the cheese. So, you may as well just eat the cheese by itself! ;DSealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Water biscuits are lovely. They have a nutty taste and are not as dry and crumbly as cream crackers. Ideal for eating with extra strong cheddar!
Have tried various makes, own brands, Carrs and Jacobs. My favourite one is Jacobs High Bake Water Biscuit.
Think I will treat myself for Christmas, then I will not feel that I am being extravagant0 -
none in spar, or costcutters near me. mustn't be posh enough round here for them to stock them. :-[0
