DH's new Barclaycard arrived in the post today, the old one having been cut up some time ago. There's almost £2,000 of credit available on it.
Whereas in the past I'd've thought - brilliant, I can buy X, Y or Z, and been straight onto goodness only know what shopping sites, today I took the scissors and chopped the card into soooooo many tiny pieces, with a big grin on my face. What a pity we can't dispose of the balance so easily!
I feel sooooooo grown up and sensible :rotfl:
I am still, two years on, eternally grateful to everyone who gave me a stern talking to when I posted about our problems. It's only by taking on board most (not all - I'm not perfect yet
) of the advice given that we find ourselves in the happy position of having two cards completely paid off, and the other two shrinking all the time. If we feel like a bit of a treat - cinema, or a takeaway for example - we are in the position of being able to do it. I do get a "hmph" moment when I think "that's money that should be going to kill the cards", but I do believe you need a little bit of fun in life, indebted or not.
DFWs - I salute you!

Good for you Hootie....I don't know about your situation personally as I have only joined last month, but it sounds from your post like you have turned your life around and are better for it.
