522lm1

Can anyone advise please? Last year my husband worked in Afghanistan on a short term contract. He returned in February 2007 and he got a job in the uk in May 2007. He has been on tax code 522LM1. Not sure how this will have affected his tax for last year. Has he paid too much?

He has been on emergency code. He needs to go to www.hmrc.gov.uk and search for a form P86 and print it off. He fills it in and sends it to his tax office with his P60 for 07-08 and a covering letter asking HMRC to review his tax liability for the year. Should be a small repayment due.
