Despondency Now Everything Paid

I've Been A Member (But Chose Not To Post Anything) On M-Saving Expert For Two Years, And In That Time Have Followed Advice & Even Listened The Thoughtful Emails Every Week That Martin Posts, Regarding Clearing Debts & Financial Prudence.
During That Time I Paid Off In There Entirety....

Citi-Bank Credit Card
Mint Credit Card
Capital One Credit Card
Debenhams account
Mortgage Express
Natwest Account.

Two Months Ago I Made The Final Payment To Mint, & Now Don't Owe Anyone Anything. 7 Days Ago I Had An Appointment With My Bank (The Halifax) To Upgrade / Change My Account.

Although My Credit Rating Is Good (I Recently Bought A New Mobile On Contract), They Said In The Long 4 Minuit's That The Interview Took, That Because I Had Defaulted On A Debt "In The Last 5 Years" They Could'nt / Wouldn't Upgrade My account For Another 5 Years.

OK So I Sleep Better At Nights Not Owing Anyone Money, But All The Effort It Took To Pay The Things Off (Thousands), Making As I Did FULL & FINAL PAYMENTS Not Partial Payments To All Of Them, I Feel Despondent & Somehow Let Down By The Interview With My Bank. The Saying Too Much Effort For Too Little Gain Has Never Ben More Salient To What I Have Gone Through In The Past 2 Years.

Firstly, congratulations on your hard work of getting everything paid off-well done! :T

As for your bank...What kind of account were you hoping to 'upgrade' to? I only ask because if it's one which involves a fee any extra benefits are rarely worth the extra expense. If you are still keen then I'd approach your bank again and ask for a rethink, and then if they don't relent take your valuable business elsewhere, it's their loss and I reckon another bank will welcome you.

Don't take any notice of the Halifax, they are an absolute nightmare. I banked with them for years, ad mortgage and credit card with them and they would never give me a current account. Have since had a current account with the Abbey and A&L so don't feel despondent.

You've done so well, don't let these fools get you down.

Thanks, I Wont. So Much Effort As You Can Imagine Over The 2 Years. So Glad Now I Am Debt Free. -Next Step Is To Dump The Halifax, Actually Every Time I See That Silly Little Chinese Fellow Dancing About On The TV Ads Makes Me Want To Leave Them!
