I've just paid £200 for dental treatment, was a NHS dentist, not anymore?

It would be pretty rare for an NHS dentist not to do crowns at all on the NHS, so it's not a common choice that a dentist could make, just something peculiar to this one.

But as you rightly say - it would be a case of the dentist saying "I'll do it this way or not at all'.

I personally chose 'not at all'. All my patients pay privately for everything. Even for their kids.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Thanks for the explanation of why he wouldn`t do crowns and bridges under his NHS contract (because he didn`t do them previously)

This country`s in some state when most people can`t find a NHS dentist and find it cheaper to have a two week holiday and get all their teeth done at the same time.
