having a mortgage on a property or not does not affect the council tax
you have to pay on that property.
all the same check out martin,s article on council tax and you may be able
to get it reduced !

It's a shame that you can't shop around for your Council Tax as you can for Car Insurance or Credit Cards.

A friend of mine who lives in SE London pays under £700 a year there and yet I'm required to pay more than double that amount.

If we can swap and change companies with nearly every other service (except water), why are we forced to use a local council monopoly who can seemingly charge what they want?? :mad:

We should be able to select some of the services that we want our councils to provide.

Things like Policing, refuse collection should be mandatory but others, such as swimming baths and libraries should be self funding.

I pay £1,500 per year for very little. With just two people in the house even my bin is only half full after two weeks.
