Self employed / Myster Shopper questions

Hi, sorry, this may have been answered previously, but I'm currently at work and for some reason the search facility doesnt work on this pc, it kinda crashes the web site :(

I'm looking to start to do some mystery shopping (hopefully) and understand that I am responsible for my own tax and NI.

As a self employed person its my understanding that I can claim things like computer / broadband / petrol etc against my tax allowance.

How does this work in relation to my tax that I pay in my 'normal' job? Do I have to fill in a tax return that includes both employed and self employed?

Do I have to earn so much to be able to realistically claim broadband / computer costs? (I imagine placing a £2000 computer against my tax if I have only earned £8 as a mystery shopper would be a no-no?)

Looking at some of the mystery shopping sites, it appears that I get refunded my outlay at the store (if any) then get paid an additional sum - does the whole amount class as a wage? If it is, can I claim my initial expenditure as a business expense?

God, theres so much to think about !

Sorry for the questions, that have probably been answered a million times before.
