I think a DMP would be good for now it leaves you with options and who knows what our future holds.

Do remember though that you will struggle to get credit (well credit you can afford!) so you have to use the time to save and budget well. Try to make sure your budget is liveable so be a little generous. DMP is totally different from the rest of DFW board we have to plan for everything and then plan for everything you don't forsee!

Please don't be daunted by this it long term helps us to live without credit which is a very liberating thing. Just don't skimp on your first budget you can always increase six months down the line if it is too generous.

I have two ISA and several saving accounts all set up whilst on a DMP and hopefully touch wood covering any emergenices life throws at us.

If I don't need them then one day I could maybe to a settlement with a company so its not wasted money!

Yep - the living without the credit is very daunting and scary :o That's obviously been my problem for a good many years, always living beyond my means and having credit to fall back on. Now I'm doing this, I'm petrified and having that bill that I didn't foresee, having to find a big sum of money I don't have and the like. It's scares me rigid that I won't be able to cope and will sink

But I really don't see a different way - I've got to try and clear the debts somehow and now that I have started the ball rolling with the CAB and their DMP I guess I give it a go for a couple of months or so and see how it pans out????

Its not as hard as it feels when you start I promise.

There is a huge DMP Support thread buzzing around and you can see in there so many of us at different stages of the journey.

I have every confidence you will learn to live its amazed me but in two years I have not touched credit so I owe less in the world now - that feels good and you will get there once it is set up and settles down.

It certainly won't do any harm to see how you get on with a DMP for a little while.

With help from here, you may find it's not as daunting as it sounds. If it really doesn't work out then you can always fall back on other options.

That's what I was thinking. Rather than rushing into any major decision about BR, just talk to a few more peeps, get the info from CCCS and read stuff on here :D cos that seems to be the best source of what it's really really like!

Also, it's really helpful and supportive to see all the ideas that people have about budgeting, finding ways to make extra cash, living with debt and just how to deal with all :D

:T Big up to all you guys on here - just wish I'd found it earlier!! :o
