Ladies - revamp your wardrobe the moneysaving way

Easy...
Look as though you have new clothes but avoid spending a penny.
Get all your drawers and turn all the clothes over so you wear things that have been 'lurking'
If you always wear trousers then wear skirts every other day instead. People will notice and the complements will be motivation enough.
Use a different bag/handbag. If you are like me you have several lurking.
Make a mental note to wear together things you have never worn together before. People will notice and the complements are a morale boost - they dont need to know you are ona tight budget
If you use things you already have like belts, necklaces, earrings, really plain outfits can get a new lease of life. Try to make sure you at least have one accessory on that you really like.
Wear different shoes - if you have a 'set' outfit you like to wear, change the shoes. Polish your shoes, and get them mended if necessary. If someone complements you say 'thankyou' rather than 'it only cost a fiver' or 'ive had it for years'.
If you have a few clothes you dont like, sell them on ebay and use the proceeds for something nice and new.

I love clothes by Jacques Vert, but as each outfit cost between £200 and £300 and I'm a single mum, I don't buy new any more! Ibuy all my outfits on Ebay, and won't pay more than £20 for anything. My motto is "If I get it great, if not there's always tomorrow!"
So far I've bought 12 outfits, all gorgeous, and they make me feel great!
The best bargain was a top and trousers with jacket for £20. I already had a dress and jacket to match the top and trousers, so I re-sold the other jacket on Ebay, and got £12 for it, thus making my original purchase £8!!
I'd recommend this to anyone who loves designer clothes on lemonade moneyI Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0 -
i volunteer in a charity shop and get some good bargains there, i dont pay more than a fiver but can dress in designer names!if you can volunteer you can get discount and first pick at stock. and if things are tight it can be an immense help plus the short time i help is an amazing boost to my morale (somedays!) when i see how truly poor and desperate some people really are!trying hard to count my blessings while surrounded by idiots :O)0

My friends and I have found a fab way of updating our wardrobes.
Every six months we each have a ruthless clear out of clothes, shoes, bags, accessories etc and get together for a clothes swapping party. Needless to say this generally involves a few bottles of wine and nibbles as well!
We always have a really fun evening and everyone goes home with some new outfits. The clothes are given anonymously so no one can judge who gives/takes more than anyone else. Anything left over at the end of the night is taken to the local charity shop.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone else does this. I would highly recommend it as a good girly night with the added bonus of new clothes!0 -
You're not the only one, we do it too - I'll always invite friends round to help with a wardrobe clearout, and they do the same - your friends are a wonderfully honest judge of what suits you and what doesn't. And it works both ways - there's nothing nicer than realising that the dress you can't throw out because there's nothing wrong with it apart from the fact that it just doesn't suit you, looks fantastic on a friend. Except maybe finding a top of theirs that doesn't do them justice but makes you look like a goddess! Yes, the rest goes to charity shops but don't they say that charity begins at home?0
