Bingo websites - Don't touch with a bargpole!

I am so sick of trying my hardest to steer clear of this sites, where one day, you win like...£50, the next, you've lost the lot (and more!!)

I have finally taken the step of closing my account (again...I'm ashamed to say!), and have no longer got the 'power' hanging over me, which makes me feel like I can't stop myself when I sit at the computer and think....tonight is my lucky night...just one go, you'll be ok.

I feel a sense of relief, but gutted that I can't control myself, even though the bank account I was using to fund this habit is waaay overdrawn and I'm trying so hard to be good and pay it back.

Anyway - sorry for rambling on.

;)
Debt as of Sept' 2015 (LBM!): £36,351  (sickening)
Monthly outgoings on debt alone: £1243/month

We're on the right path, we got ourselves here..we're a bit lost, but we'll find our way back again!

Ok - yes if you know that you might be susceptible to gambling with your own money on these sites, then stay well clear.

The only time I would recommend using them is when you are playing with their money - sites sometimes offer you a free bonus when joining up, but even these offers are coming to an end now, so you have to be very careful not to get your fingers burnt.

Liz I'd say stay away all together, or just play the free gala games on Thursday evenings. If you really can't control yourself, just send an email to the companies explaining that you are an addict and you need them to ban you from playing and close your accounts. I used to work for a gambling company, and if you are very clear about your addiction, they have an obligation to stop you playing on their site, and should block your account.

Be strong, remember that the bank ALWAYS wins in the end and cut your losses.

    xx

No, because it's not that serious really - I set a limit as to how much I could spend (£20/wk), so it's not like I'm talking about huge amounts of money here, but it's still £20/wk.....I can cope with not going on the web-site I usually go on...it's really weird because if my head knows that there's no way I can go on...I'm fine with it!! If I know I can go on, but don't really want to...I can't stop it, so now I know I can't go on....I will be fine and will find something else to occupy my mind (like making my wedding invites!!)

    £20 P/W is almost £90 per month.

Stay clear of these sites, there is only one winner and its not your bank account.

Well done for realising now that you need to stop, if you are tempted again, come on here and someone on DFW will talk you out of it.

It sounds pretty serious to me

    You cant control yourself

    Waaaay overdrawn

    Your OP

These sites are a godsend to us DFWers as we can *make* money but in all honest I think you need to speak to a professional with regards to how they are affecting you :)

Bingo is a rubbish game! You will lose more than you win. That's how the operators make their profit. Every big payout is the result of 100s of other people losing.
However, virtually all casino games are negative expectation ie: erosion of funds is the long term trend. Some people enjoy certain games enough that they simpy see the cost as a "per hour charge", rather like renting a DVD etc.

Keeping records will soon show the truth.

Even the free bingo offers are not much good, with great difficulty withdrawing any winnings and requirements to deposit your own money etc.

    I would agree with tigtag

The only time I play bingo online, is when the either send me a bonus come on email, the free bonus for joining, or when I am pretty certain, I will get more than my deposit back via a cash back site.

I have to say I am also pretty happy with Gala bingo having made £200 on their free thursdays in the last 6 weeks.

OP the key is discipline, like anywhere else. If you want to benefit then you have to be strict. Well done for recognising that you may not be able to be strict with yourself at the moment.

Remember £20 a week is over 1k in a year. Thanks bad enough but when you consider the interest rates on some debts that could be lowered then it starts to get hairy.

Go pop that extra £86 a month into the snowball calc and see what it does to your DFD.

Haha your like me, I have became very obsessed with our DFD to the extent that i play with the figures to add in any saving made by not buying X Y or Z or even by reducing a household insurance premium. :rotfl:

Hey it keeps me from spending.
