HP5740 for £35

HP5740 for £35 at Comet or PC World (using Collect@Store), previously £65-70.
Actually gets some good write ups and it would get some better scores if it was at the £35 price in the reviews.

Although HP cartridges aren't the cheapest they are easy to refill* (my technophobic mother refills the ones on her HP3325 which uses smaller versions of the cartridges used in this printer).
It also supports 6 colour printing (swapping black for second colour cartridge).
I was seriously considering getting one but I measured up and it wouldn't fit where it needed to go DOH! So I got the more expensive Canon Pixma IP3000.
*(Pull back label and syringe ink into the correct hole).

Anyone know if this comes with cartridges?? Also I picked up a few of the ink refill kits from tesco the other day. Will these be ok to use on this printer??0

It'll come with a black and colour cartridge but they'll only be part filled (guessing 1/3 filled).
Refill instructions (The one on the right is the high capacity black). Basically peel off label and inject ink.
I believe the photo cartridge refills in a similar way but the inks are less readily available.
Aside:
I can remember in the early days of inkjets, before refill kits were available, people used to refill our black cartridges using Parker Quink fountain pen ink. Now that was a cheap refill.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

The description doesn't mention it coming with cartridges. Usually with printers you will get "lite" cartridges which don't last too long and then you pay (at Comet) £26.99 for an original colour cartridge. Kinda negates the saving made in the first place!
I have mixed feelings about refilling cartridges but if you're happy doing it and are pleased with the results then it looks like a good buy.
I would ALWAYS research cartridges before buying though. Not sure if compats are available for this model.
Also it looks like it might be USB connection only so if you have an older PC, make sure of this before you buy, should your PC lack a USB port.
