I give you the FD

A few of you may know the expression FB, which stands for er, "in a lot of trouble" Buyer ;)
I now give you the FD, the er, "in a lot of trouble" Developer:

and
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-17096710.rsp?pa_n=2&tr_t=buy
(I think there's a surplus "n" in "turnkey" with that one)
The first one: why would anyone buy a barely half completed 1 bed place when they can buy a completed 2 bed place for not much more money? (and probably more mortgagable). I think I know why it is the price it is, but I'll keep that to myself for the present.
The second one: Why no rent details? Because no-one has tried to rent it out yet? How long will it last in the current state if it gets rented out as holiday flats? Note it is on with 3 local commercial agents not just the link I put in. !!!!!! it's Blackpool South Shore not Lytham! I suggest the developer thought they knew what they were doing but I'd be curious what they make on that one over and above HPI.
Which reminds me, what happened to the woman who had that mad themed hotel who appeared on "The Hotel Inspector". She spent about £500,000 on the place and tried to sell it for about £300,000 at one point didn't she? Just checked, she's still in business and doesn't think much of TV programs :D

You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

It's the arrogance of these people with a bit of disposable income thinking they can become rich by watching TV programmes about this and then jumping straight in.

I think it's laughable and note that those property renovation type programmes now include disclaimers such as 'features house prices from August 2006', etc.

  • Around Manchester i have noticed a lot of shops boarded up (recently closed down) with a big sign above them saying "land for sale, planning permission for x amout of flats", which reads to me "i bought this land for new build flats, but i'm fcuked if i build them myself, hopefully some other mug will take the hit"

Classic case of greed in my opinion.
    Happy chappy

  • we keep hearing about the housing shortage, immigrants and not enough property being built. but I wonder how many "new" properties have been created by developers turning houses into flats.

I can see many of these properties being turned back into houses during the downturn.

I live round the corner from Sparkles and it's still up for sale. See Mrs Sparkles around the place from time to time and she is as loud as the programmes suggest she is.

As for the place in Osborne Rd that price is way too much. Osborne Rd funny enough is only a few yards from Sparkles so is in a recognised holiday letting area but with the amount of property for sale around here (large houses/hotels) bargain prices it certainly won't reach anywhere near what the vendor wants.
Clearly the rentals are seasonal in any event.

I only read an article this morning that suggested that Blackpool Council are turning down change of use applications from holiday accommodation where they are in recognised holiday letting areas and already surrounded by hotels.

I was told that years ago when I tentatively enquired about some holiday flats on or near the prom in Cleveleys. That must be at least 5 years back.

The first property was up informal tender - offers in by 19th March 2008 :o

That Blackpool property. :rotfl: 5*! For Blackpool perhaps! I particularly like the travel rug on the cheap bed look. Must mention that to the staff next time I visit a Malmaison! I went to see a house about 500 yards away from there and it was like the Bronx. The house I went to see had a structural wall removed without support which sent me out the door faster then you could blink after I put my foot through the 'gap' under the carpet upstairs. That was after the EA informed me that the two neighbours either side were in an ongoing feude. One bloke was sat in his window like a guard dog and both had windows out!
