Loan help

Hoping someone will be able to help...

I've just applied online for an egg loan but was refused... I rang them the said it was based on credit rating score.

I've just done credit history check equifax and recieved a score of +489 which is given as Excellent!!

I've had 2 loans and a credit card with egg in the past and never missed any payments etc on them.

Whilst I've had plenty of credit in the past I currently have no debt at all and have never been refused credit in the past

any ideas what could be going on?

  • loan was for 6k

I chose egg again as it's flexible and I'm very likley to pay off early. The loan is for a car.

I got my car through Sainsburys at 6.44% for 12k. Looking at the comp sites A+L look good, Sainsburys were very quick about 3 days before I had the cheque

  • I'm just worried about re-applying etc cause more refusals will damage my good credit rating?
  • Any body any ideas how I can sort this? what's the best way forward?
  • and another question :D

I've just got an online quote from Alliance & Liecester based on 7.7% for borrowing 6K. I noticed in the small print that the rate is only typical on lending 7.5K.... so I rang them to find the actual rate.

They cant tell me the actual rate without processing a loan request (meaning credit check). If the rate the offer is no good for me that's yet another credit check and if I'm not careful could end up with loads of these!!!

How the hell am I supposed to find the right loan :confused:

hope I'm making some sense... please help
  • Sorry this isn't going to be any help to you, but just to let you know I'm in the same boat (not actually applied for any loans yet but worrying about wrecking my credit score if i get turned down for one or they offer a silly rate and i have to look elsewhere and it snowballs into a load of applications and searches). I'll let you know what happens when I start applying!
