Right, so it's just your wireless connection :D

While you're plugged in via wires, can you access your router setup page?

http://192.168.0.1 should take you to it.

Once there, ensure your wireless part of the router is switched on and set up WEP encryption (hopefully it should generate a key that you will also have to enter into your wireless settings on the laptop)

Here's the manual for your router: http://www.kcorplifestyle.com/products/silverSeriesG2/KLS-6615/KLS-6615_manual.pdf

    hi mate

further to the above, where do i enter the key into the w/l settings in the laptop?

    thanks

I believe that, when your laptop locates the WEP encrypted wireless broadcast by your router it will ask you to input a WEP key to complete the connection - hazy though, not set one up in donkeys!

  • i am not a techie, and dont know what would work for you, but i had this problem and this worked for me. go to run, type in services.msc, then go to bottom of list generated and highlight wireless zero configuration. then press start this service, it will then connect to my hub and i am wireless . i have to do this everytime i turn on my laptop, might work for you. i tried everything else before finding this was my solution.

yabba-dabba doo! i have got it working, after much frustration and playing about! changed the ip and dns configuration to automatic- my mate told me earlier to change em to one's he specified (apparently they were suited to my own ip address but apparently not!)

thanks for your help rdpro ;-)

my laptop has a switch a the front that turns the wireless on and off. I have a habit of sliding it across and "losing" my connection. Glows orange when in correct position.
  • i wont take credit for it, if your referring to me, a guy on a bt call centre in india talked mr through it. they are very helpful , like this community ;)
  • well done! how did we live before the internet!
