New B&M Store opening in Derby!!!
Hi all,
For all you East Midlanders who find it a bit of a bind to drive to Ilkeston, there is soon to be a new B&M opening on Ascot Drive in Derby, where Glyn Webb used to be :j
For those who don't know, B&M is a discount food and housewares store, similar to Home Bargains (but not as good IMO!)
It is reported to be opening late next month and will be re-employing any former Glyn Webb staff who got laid off following the store being burned to a crisp 3 years ago! I used to work there 10 years ago (and met my OH there too
) so it's nice to see the old place reopening again.
HTH anyone who is local to the area!
https://www.bmstores.co.uk - although the news was reported on https://www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk - search for glyn webb

P.S The 'bind to Ilkeston' bit wasn't a dig BTW - nice l'il market town with super cheap parking, but to drive 13 miles from my home to get to a bargain shop somewhat defeats the object!!!0

Ilkeston wasn't the only store in the East Mids, there has been one in Hucknall for a few years now! xGone ... or have I?0
-
Oh yes, so I see! Never knew that! Mind you I think that's even further from me than 'Ilson' (as the locals call it!)
On the plus side - the news report also says that it will be a B&M Homestore - which will sort of be a poor persons 'Next Home' I suppose!
Suits me fine! Can't afford the lovely stuff at Next at the mo! :rolleyes:0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Oooohhh! A new B & M will be fab - will put it on my little circuit for bargain hunting (includes Paks and Home Bargains) which I do every couple of weeks! I'm also hoping the new Primark in Derby town centre will open in time for summer clothes shopping, but haven't heard when yet.0

Just to say that BM opened in Derby on Saturday - went in today and it's quite good, but a bit manic!0

LOL I found this thread while googling for Home Bargains address...Why the hell have they opened it on Ascot drive?? That is 2 bus journeys for me. Why not in town?????
I am hoping that HB might move to town now that there are a few empty slots, I miss it so much since I moved from Normanton

there's now one in Bulwell, Nottingham which used to be the Woolies there. I went yesterday and it seemed reasonably busy. We found the food quite cheap and bought a couple of cans and some cheap Ben Shaw pop (29p in small bottles) that were nice. Plants for the garden ranged from £1.49 to £2.39 were healthy too.:T0
